She is a Mrraldan, which means she is a human whose ancestry is feline rather than primate (like Earther humans). Until recently she was a Professor of languages at a highly respected Mrraldan university. She fell out of favor with her department over the relative importance of her research. Yet this research was what the government of her planet called on to communicate with their first visitor from Earth. She developed a close relationship with this alien and later married him. At a time of crisis, the Mrraldan World War, she fought to free her world from both a dictator and powerful authoritarian organizations. She lives on Earth in New York as an ambassador of her planet.
