Peter Leighton
Peter Leighton has a Doctor of Spiritual Science (D.S.S.) degree from Peace Theology Seminary and a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University. While at Antioch, he authored a thesis about stopping epileptic episodes through awareness focusing. He also was a science teacher and an Academic Dean at a local acupuncture school. He spent three years as a chef and still loves to cook. Besides loving writing, he loves to collect movies and take bike rides with his wife of 32 years in Los Angeles, CA. He has been an ordained minister since 1982.
Writing, especially scientific writing, has been in Leighton's family as he was growing up. His father, Dr. I. M. Levitt, wrote about space travel and stellar phenomena from the perspective of a scientist. Some of these works were Beyond the Known Universe, Space Traveler's Guide to Mars, Target for Tomorrow, and Exploring the Secrets of Space. Dr. Levitt also invented a Mars Clock. Peter became steeped in this culture from an early age, and the ever-expanding question of "what if" led him to a love of science fiction. After many years of trying other professions, Leighton "came home" to writing science fiction. "I owe this love of it to my dad," he explains.
